A very attractive and uncommon 18th Century porcelain saucer by the Caughley factory
c1785-90
The saucer has the 'Fenced Garden' pattern
This is 'a printed Chinese scene with a tall building part of which appears to be supported on stilts, set amongst trees and rocks.... The floral border is unique to this pattern and is not too imposing.' (Goss p 234 Brish Blue and White Porcelain Saucers 1745-1795)
The saucer displays very well and is generally in very good condition with no chips and clear printing of the main pattern
There is only some smudging on border for approx 9 cms of the circumference as shown in the photograps.
It has the expected printed S mark on the base.
A delightful piece that is not readily available.
Diameter: 13.5 cms
Height: 3 cms
